SPEK has been writing corporate music for many years. Most likely you’ve already heard his work on the radio or in your favorite reality series. Raised in the 80’s and shaped by the 90’s, SPEK has spent the last 15 years injecting his unique perspective into radio production, film, and Television. But now Spek has found himself compelled to emerge from the shadows into the synthwave underworld. Inspired by the opening credits of Portlandia while also living in that same city, SPEK knew he needed to replicate that vibe…. and he has.
Not inspired by pink palm trees, Knight Rider, or strange neon grids in an alternate reality. No, think old PBS, Nova, and sickdays at home on the couch watching nature shows between Sesame Street and Spiderman. Feverdreams. Drifting in and out of nausea and starvation.
“Honestly” says SPEK, “I just wanted some tunes to drive to”.
